The beauty of the Weisspriach Valley, perhaps the most gorgeous valley in the Lungau region, reveals itself to you immediately at the valley’s entrance with the unique Longa Mäander conservation area. Along the course of this creek, you’ll encounter many great opportunities to relax and take in the fresh air, wonderful sunshine, and crystal-clear mountain waters.
Nature and Culture
The town of Weisspriach is situated at an elevation of 1,100 m. It is also an ideal starting point for several hiking trails, along which you’ll have a chance to stop and rest awhile amidst captivating mountain lakes and rustic huts. All year round, Weisspriach offers the best conditions for an interesting and restorative vacation.
When driving into the valley, you’ll reach a parking area from which you can take a short walk up to the edge of an idyllic hill farm setting. Cyclists can ride through the beautiful valley all the way to the Ulnhütte. The dirt road at the rearmost end of Weisspriach Valley offers leisurely hikers of all ages the chance to take a lovely, refreshing stroll. Weisspriach’s charming townscape is captured in the marvelous frescoes inside quaint little St. Rupert’s Church. These frescoes are among the oldest in Salzburg province.
An exciting, unique experience for anyone in any season: a ride through the valley on Icelandic horses lasting one day or several-days.
Winter in the Weisspriach Valley
Fanningberg’s family-friendly ski area, with its modern 6-seater Samson Lift and the new 6-seater Zirbenjet Lift, will ensure mountains of wintertime fun in a romantic setting for all you fans of the snow. Skiers and snowboarders can expect not only a broad range of runs at every level of difficulty, but also the chance to enjoy a hearty meal in one of our popular, rustic ski huts.
Winter sport lovers can also look forward to lasting impressions on the many kilometers of well-groomed cross-country trails (classic and skating technique) and plenty of beautiful backcountry skiing opportunities. Also awaiting guests is the chance to take part in a lively game of ice stock with the locals or enjoy a sleighride through the snow-covered valley.
