Tamsweg
Bezirkshauptort im Salzburger Lungau
The small-yet-charming district seat TAMSWEG lies on the border between Carinthia, Styria and southern Salzburger Land, nestled between the gentle Nockberge and the rugged Hohe Tauern mountains in the heart of Salzburger Lungau.
Tamsweg is in the southernmost corner of Salzburger Land at 1024 meters above sea level. With a population of roughly 6000 residents, Tamsweg offers its visitors a magnificent array of recreational opportunities in nature that is as pristine as it gets. This wonderful natural setting of high peaks, lakes, streams and alpine meadows gives you countless ways to discover UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburger Lungau. Something all of our guests, both summer and winter, truly value during their holidays.

HIGHLIGHTS IN TAMSWEG
Did you know...
that St. Leonhard's Church is a Roman-Catholic pilgrimage church in the market town of Tamsweg, in the Lungau region of Salzburger Land? The church stands on the side of the Schwarzenberg above town, from where you can make out this east-facing church with its north tower, fortifications and pilgrimage paths, which meander up the mountainside and are dotted with small chapels. The pilgrimage church is a listed historic monument.
One unique feature of this church, in addition to the structure itself and its location: the "GOLDEN WINDOW", with panes made only of golden yellow and blue glass.
