The border triangle

Ramingstein is located in the border triangle of Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia, in the heart of the Lungau Nockberge Biosphere Park, the largest biosphere park in Austria.

Ramingstein has a long and eventful history. In the Middle Ages, the village was even one of the most important mining areas in the Alpine region. The picturesque village lies directly on the Mur River, which has its source in the Lungau region. Finstergrün Castle rises above the village, as a landmark of Ramingstein and witness of past eras. South of the Mur, the community extends into the Lungau Nockberge mountains, an Eldorado for hikers and ski tourers.

Unspoiled nature, traditional cultural landscape and living culture characterize the Lungau and Ramingstein, see for yourself.
