Mauterndorf Castle Children’s Program

In the summer months, Mauterndorf Castle offers a large and unique children‘s program. All information about the children‘s program, opening times and prices can be found online at www.burg-mauterndorf.at

The spectacular medieval festival will take place on July 6 & 7, 2019 in themarket area as well as at Mauterndorf castle.

One ticket entitles you to a ride up the Grosseck-Speiereck, a ride on the historic Taurach Railway, as well as one admission to Mauterndorf Castle.

“Holidays, Finstergrün Castle and you!” – tours for children

In July and August, Finstergrün Castle opens its gates to adventure-loving kids. Together, we want to explore the castle, experience the ropes course, get to know the exciting world of healing herbs, and let our creative juices flow in a castle setting. We complete our shared afternoon with a campfire and delicious snacks.

Pure Nature Path

The Mauterndorf Pure Nature Path gives insight into our vast animal and plant world, and over 50 stations encourage us to focus on our natural surroundings.

Start: valley station of the Mauterndorf ski center or town center of Mauterndorf as well as the summit station of the Grosseck 8-pers. cable car.

Adventure Hiking Path

With diverse, interesting, and fun info stations, you will have a great time hiking with your children. The end station is the Wildbachhütte, where the kids can run around on the great playground. And all those that still have energy can make their way out to the extraordinary „pyramids“ at the foot of the Gumma.

Leisnitz Water Path

You will pass the Dwarf’s Cave and a natural playground, which also includes the “Kasmandl Hut” (great shelter in bad weather incidentally). A new element is the story told about a lonely giant. Equipped with a picture book and a treasure map, children are asked to visit the various stations along the Water Path – as their reward, they get to hunt for their own “stone of courage” at Gasthof Schlögelberger, a really great destination with a petting zoo, playground, wildlife feeding station, and all kinds of delicious things to eat.

Start: „Water Stone“ in the town center of St. Margarethen (below the church, in the Löckerwirt parking lot) or at the town hall, where the picture book and treasure map are available (in front of the building in a wooden box between the benches across from the info board/
official notice board).

Wildlife Park

A visit to the alpine animal park „Almdorf Lungau“ at Gasthof Schlögelberger in St. Margarethen is always a memorable experience. Here, you can observe red deer, sika deer, and ibex up-close. A special highlight is the wildlife feeding.

Katschi’s Gold Run is an exciting alpine coaster that promises all kinds of fun, action and adventure in the countryside for the whole family. Big and small can board their personal mine train for a ride back into the history of gold mining and in search of the hidden gold of the Katschberg.

Austria’s largest Adventure Park on Katschberg

There are 200 challenge stations requiring the highest concentration to overcome. From platform to platform, different coordination exercises are constructed from wooden elements and ropes. The absolute highlight is the Flying Fox, allowing thrill seekers can soar through the air on a zip role. NEW 2015: 20 blue stations for children aged 3 years and 10 stations „Extreme Flying Fox“.

At „Katschhausen“ children‘s adventure world, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the „Katschling family“ and various natural phenomena. Included in the modern, family-friendly playground are great play stations, a petting zoo, and a comfortable picnic area.

PonyAlm Express

Environmentally-friendly and with minimal “horsepower” as well as lasting memories, the horse taxis will take you from Katschberg into Gontal. The end station is at the alpine summer hut known as the „Pritzhütte“, where children can observe, pet, and ride the ponys.

Geocaching – GPS Treasure Hunt

Equipped with a GPS device, there are ten treasure chests to discover. The start of this modern treasure hunt is on the mountain station Aineck, which you can reach via the Aineckbahn from the Katschberg-Passhöhe. From here, treasure hunters can go from treasure chest to treasure chest as they make their way downhill to their destination at the Aineck valley station on Katschberg.

In July and August, the fun gets started at the Mauterndorf ski center, because this is when Smarty Land opens its doors. Many attractions such as a 60 m long water tubing lane, a bungee trampoline, councy castle and children’s high ropeway element, jump trampoline, kids’ quads, summer tubing train and much more are awaiting the young visitors..

On an adventure tour with forest witch „Wurzi“

Enjoy an exciting guided, easy hike along the Witches’ Path for children and families. Your guide will be the “forest witch”, who will tell participants tales about a variety of spirits and sorcerers, and challenge the youngsters with many a “test of courage”, such as eating “frogs” or drinking a magic potion. The new indoor sports hall stretches over 450m2 and is located directly at das.Stockbett. The concept of the indoor sports hall is complete in the sign of climbing, bouldering, trampolining using the sports court.

Outdoorparc & Waterparc Lungau

The Outdoorparc Lungau is perfect for families and sports enthusiasts of all ages. There is a street soccer court, a bouldering rock with over 100 m2 of climbing surface, a climbing pyramid, and a low ropes course available for free. The park also offers a modern zip line, over 10 stations with a length of 850 m. The newly built “Double Fly” is an absolute highlight, a 170 meters-long zipline for 2 riders, with the lines strung in parallel 3 meters apart. There are also lots of highlights in and around the water, including rubber rafts, kayaks, canoesand
even a zorbing ball for the kids. Refreshment opportunities.
NEW: In the Waterparc Lungau, the following attractions are available on the 1.5 hectare Nessiteich: kids zorbing ball, water blobbing, pedal boats, stand up paddling, kayaks and canoes.
