The potato from the Alps - the Lungau "Eachtling"

Lungau Eachtling are not only a culinary highlight, but also a symbol of regionality and tradition. Harvested at over 1,000 meters above sea level, they impress with their unmistakable aroma and first-class nutritional values.

The Salzburg Lungau region offers ideal conditions for growing Eachtling potatoes thanks to its special geographical location and alpine climate. In the sandy and stony soil, the potatoes develop their unique aroma and are enriched with valuable minerals such as potassium, calcium and iron.

Fall is harvest time

Between the end of August and the end of September, the harvest of Lungau Eachtling takes center stage. During this time, visitors can enjoy the regional specialty at delicacy weeks and traditional festivals. If you want to lend a hand yourself, you can harvest the ripe potatoes directly from the field at the Karlbauer farm in Zankwarn, Mariapfarr.

Whether classically with butter and salt or as an ingredient in sophisticated dishes - Lungau Eachtling potatoes are an indispensable part of regional cuisine. The simple but delicious taste of the warm tubers, seasoned with herbs and accompanied by fresh buttermilk, has delighted young and old for generations.
