Cranberry jam

Lungauer Grantn - these red "wonder berries" turn the Lungau forests and landscapes a glorious red color in September and October and are ready to be picked (from the first ripening).

The cranberries not only impress with their unmistakable tart and sour taste, but are also considered "medicinal plants" thanks to their healthy ingredients, as they have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and also act as a "fountain of youth" for the human skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fresh Lungauer Grantn (cranberries)
  • 700 g granulated sugar
  • 125ml water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Boil the cranberries with sugar, water and lemon juice
  2. Simmer gently for 20 to 30 minutes
  3. Sterilize the jars in boiling water for five minutes, lift out of the water with tongs, fill with the jam and then seal immediately.

Tip: add a few leaves of fresh lemon thyme or 1-2 cinnamon sticks to the cranberry pot during the cooking process for a special flavor.
