The Krampus parades in the Lungau region are more than just a tradition – they are a feast for all the senses. Young Lungau locals sustain the 500-year-old ritual and organize it with great dedication. With elaborately carved masks, blazing fires and striking carriages, the Krampus groups parade through the streets and leave an unforgettable impression.

Saint Nicholas takes center stage, going from house to house with a shepherd's crook and a bishop's hat. While he rewards the good children with sweets and nuts, Krampus provides a gruesome balance – at least for the naughty ones. Together, they keep a centuries-old tradition alive, creating excitement and alliance alike.
