17 improved and extended mountain-bike tours
With some 60 alpine tarns, 70 staffed huts and enchanting natural landscapes, Salzburg's Lungau offers perfect conditions for unforgettable biking experiences: The new mountain-bike trail network, with 17 tours and all difficulty levels, including an exclusive cross-valley tour - the "Lungau EXTREME" - sets the pulses of every true-blue biker racing with pure joy with every single meter of vertical gain.
The Lungau side valleys radiate outwards like the spokes of a wheel, home to nine new mountain-bike tours that are simply waiting to be explored. The new, over 500 km-long mountain-bike network offers exciting and challenging MTB tours in the healthy mountain air. The 17 different tours, ranging in difficulty, don't just lead through the magical landscapes of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburg's Lungau, they also take you past places of cultural and historical interest, such as St. Leonhard's Pilgrimage Church outside Tamsweg and Mauterndorf Castle.

The "Lungau EXTREME" covers a total distance of 158.5 km and 6,145 meters in gains. We recommend tackling the "Lungau EXTREME" in 4 stages as follows:
Tamsweg - Göriach, 41.2 km, total gains 1,935 meters
Göriach - St. Michael, 45.3 km, total gains 2,068 meters
St. Michael - Katschberg - St. Michael, 34.4 km, total gains 1,556 meters
St. Michael - Tamsweg, 37.4 km, total gains 1,613 meters
This cross-valley tour is suitable for athletic, experienced mountain bikers.
