The use of the forest roads in the Salzburg Lungau region is permitted under certain conditions. It is always at your own risk. Clear rules help to ensure safety and harmonious coexistence:

  • Only use approved and marked routes.
  • Be aware that forest roads are operating areas: Expect wood on the road, grazing livestock, motor vehicles as well as deer crossing.
  • Reduce your speed or dismount at blind or dangerous spots, such as sharp bends, tunnels, or cattle grids.

Make sure you have the right equipment: Only use bikes that are suitable for the route and adhere to the bicycle definition of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO).

  • Compulsory wearing of a helmet for children: Children up to the age of 12 must wear a bicycle helmet according to the StVO.
  • Closed, when covered by snow and ice: MTB trails are closed in winter conditions.

In respect for other users such as pedestrians, grazing livestock, and farm vehicles, which must always be given priority, your experience on the forest roads will be safe and unforgettable. Stick to this agreement and enjoy nature responsibly.
