Moosham Palace in Unternberg

Because of its central location, Mossham Castle was the preferred residence for the princes and archbishops of Salzburg from around 1520 onwards. At the end of the 17th century, countless trials initiated by the archbishops against alleged witches and sorcerers took place in the castle. The objects on display were collected by Count Hans Nepomuk Wilczek, who purchased the castle in 1886 and turned it into a museum. It remains in family possession. The museum focuses on: living culture in various epochs (16th to 19th century) sculptures, wagons, hunting weapons, North Pole expeditions, court room with executioner's sword, torture chamber, finds from Roman times.

Thurnschall Ruins in Lessach

According to legend, the Turnschall Weibl guards a treasure from the 13th century in the ruins to this day. The Lungau Cultural Trail leads directly past the Thurnschall ruins on its way to Lessach. A structure chronicled all the way back in the 13th century, the 8 m-high ruins of the west tower can still be seen today, hinting at the irregular layout of the former fortress.

Klausegg Ruins in Seetal

Klausegg lies about 10 km east of Tamsweg, right on the border between two Austrians provinces, Salzburg and Styria, which was also the border between the Archbishopric of Salzburg and Habsburg-ruled Styria in the 13th century. It is understood that it served a function as a border fortress. The original fortification was located on the road, and its late medieval successor has been preserved to this day. From here, a partially preserved fortified wall runs up to the fortress, which stands high on the southern slope of the valley.
