In the Preber sports and recreation area, the Moorland Trail will bring you to the 1,514 m high Preber Lake loop, where you’ll find a lovely trail that circles around the lake. The gorgeous mountain backdrop—in particular, 2,740 m high Preber mountain—will inspire you to explore the great hiking opportunities the area has to offer.
The Lungau Folk Heritage Museum in Tamsweg displays an array of interesting cultural artifacts and is home of the famous giant Samson figure. We also invite you to sit down for a chat with the locals and experience a truly unique sense of hospitality.
Cycling and biking fans will love the altitude here and will find Tamsweg an excellent starting point for the diverse network of biking routes. For trekking bikers, the 340 km long Murrad Trail guarantees an incredible tour. Tamsweg is an ideal starting point for the area’s numerous well-marked hiking paths as well. Offering a family-friendly atmosphere is something that Tamsweg takes very seriously. Nestled in a heavenly mountain landscape with numerous meadows and forests and fresh, healthy air, Tamsweg and its lovely surrounding countryside offer both parents and kids the perfect place to relax and have fun.
In june, when the snow has melted on the mountains and the valleys are grazed, the peasants move with the animals to the alpine pastures all over the Alpine region. This time of the year is called "Almsommer".

How to reach us
We will take the bus or car from Tamsweg to Lake Prebersee (ca. 9km), where we take a ca. 1-hour walk up a mountain lane to the Preber-Halter Hut.
And from here: we can cross over to the Grazer Hut (elev. 1.897m), where there is again an opportunity to drop down to the lake. The whole hike takes about 3,5 hours.

Grazer Hut (1.897 m)
How to reach us
Take the valley bus or your own car from Tamsweg to Lake Prebersee (ca. 9km), continuing until you come (in 2km) to the path (No. 787) up to the Grazer Hut (elev. 1.897m), which you will reach in about 1,5 hours.
Another alternative is to hike from the Prebersee (elev. 1.514m) via the Preber-Halter Hut to the Grazer Hut (which takes about 3,5 hours).

Dorfer Hut (1.655 m)
How to reach us
From Tamsweg we take either the bus or a car in the direction of Seetal. The hike takes us from the "In der Stadt" section of Seetal (elementary school) along a marked cart path to a road, going trough a series of bends on the way up to Seetal Huts, where we also discover the Dorfer Hut at 1.655m above sea level.
As an alternative we recommend a hike from Gasthof Klausnerwirt. We head in direction of the Gstoder, along a path with blue markings taking us to Klausegg ruins, followed by a forested downhill stretch to the Seetal Huts.
