FasCination OF R/C AVIATION
- once you catch this bug, you'll never be cured!
Especially for fans of remote-control aviation, Unternberg is an absolute holiday paradise. Set amid broad sunny meadows, in a valley at 1,025 m above sea level and right next to Mooshamer Moor, with medieval Schloss Moosham towering above, lies an airfield for remote-control planes operated by R/C Club Lungau. Taking off and landing on a nicely maintained grass runway measuring 150 m by 20 m, with your guest card you will be able to fly here daily between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The airfield permits models weighing up to 20 kg and generating no more than 80 dB. Ideal conditions for larger-scale models and towed launches (tow on-site). The magnificent scenery and the opportunity to talk shop with your fellow RCers at the clubhouse add the finishing touches to what is sure to be a memorable day.
It isn't just the actual flying that is so fascinating. Building your own equipment familiarizes you with the different materials, technology, remote controls and engines. When you do get to the point of flying, you become acquainted with the natural forces involved, such as air currents, wind and thermals. This is a sport that demands painstaking attention to every detail, but is a hobby that is guaranteed to enthrall young and the young-at-heart alike.
Whenever RCers are out there flying their planes, guests are also welcome to stop by and watch all the goings-on.
