A summer paradise for the whole family
A true natural jewel in the heart of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburger Lungau.
St. Michael lies at 1075 meters above sea level, surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery between the Speiereck and Katschberg-Aineck. This location gives the town its own special charm, while the surrounding countryside was seemingly created for reenergizing holiday experiences.
St. Michael is the starting point for countless hiking opportunities to deep-blue alpine tarns, numerous mountain huts and relaxing footpaths alongside streams in the valley bottom.
Late-risers might well decide to ride the Sonnenbahn Speiereck cabin lift or the Aineckbahn Katschberg chairlift. To cool off afterwards, the outdoor pool in St. Michael with minigolf course is an invitation impossible to resist. As part of the holiday program, daily events are offered especially for children.
Summer Holidays
Mountain bikers will discover new heights of MTB enjoyment thanks to our outstanding trail network. Laid-back cyclists, on the other hand, might well prefer to pedal happily along the Murradweg next to the River Mur. The famous Tour de Mur, which leads all the way to Bad Radkersburg , also begins in St. Michael.
St. Michael is also the perfect holiday spot for bike fans.
Fire & Voice
One of the local event highlights is a cultural spectacle known as "Fire & Voice", a major international musical gathering with choirs from across Austria as well as neighboring countries.
Fire & Voice touches the heart - of participating choir members and listeners alike.
