Trail Rules and Warnings for Safe Cross-country Skiing
In the Salzburg Lungau region, clear trail rules and important warning signs ensure that every cross-country skier can enjoy a safe and pleasant winter experience.
Considerateness, appropriate speed, and compliance with markings and regulations are essential to ensure smooth interaction on the trails.
Trail Rules
- Every cross-country skier must behave in such a way that they do not endanger or harm others!
- Obey the markings and keep to the prescribed running direction!
- Each double track is a cross-country skiing unit! The right-hand rule applies! (even if several trails run next to each other)
- Overtake on the left! The skier in front does not have to give way!
- When meeting other skiers, the poles must be kept close to the body.
- In groups: run one behind the other in the right-hand lane!
- In the case of oncoming traffic, swerve to the right, the person in the uphill lane gives way to the person in the downhill lane!
- The speed – especially on descents – must be adapted to your ability, the terrain, visibility, and the number of people in the lane. If you stop or fall – clear the lane immediately!
- In the event of an accident, everyone is obliged to provide assistance!
- Participants in accidents are obliged to prove their identity. Do not leave the designated trails.
Warnings
- Pay attention to the avalanche board!
- Dogs are not allowed on the trails!
- Cross-country skiing without cross-country skis is not permitted!
- No daily final inspection of the trails in the evening!
- Please note that the cross-country grooming machines track the trails as required and depending on the weather conditions.
- Road, trail, and slope crossings must be taken with caution!
- No liability can be accepted for accidents of any kind!
- Please take care of our environment!
